Modavanti.com is a new online shopping destination for contemporary sustainable fashion. Modavanti.com’s mission is to promote the sustainable fashion movement by building an active community around a curated and social shopping experience. By sustainable fashion, we mean clothing and accessories that are eco-friendly and ethically sourced.
Why Modavanti.com? Until now, there has been no recognized destination for the consumer who cares about where their clothes come from and how they are made to find fashion that fits their values without sacrificing on style. With Modavanti.com, that era is over — now you can look good, feel good and do good.
The idea for Modavanti.com was born out of our desire to make a social impact through business. The fashion industry in particular has been slow to change the way it operates. To give you one example, it takes 400 gallons of water to grow enough cotton to produce just one cotton t-shirt. This is clearly an unsustainable path and we believe that by promoting designers who are producing clothes in a more socially conscious manner we can bring about real change within the fashion industry. We believe that profit and progress can go hand in hand.
Sustainability to us means adjusting how we live and how we produce to preserve our natural resources as much as possible. We want to ensure that we bequeath a healthy and stable planet to our children and grandchildren. But sustainability isn’t just about being eco-friendly. It’s also about treating our fellow humans with dignity and respect and guaranteeing fair wages so that others can prosper as well.
We have a number of site features that we are really excited about. Visitors to Modavanti.com can search for products according to its eight-badge sustainability criteria: made in USA, organic, vegan, recycled/repurposed, energy efficient, handmade, fair trade and eco-conscious.
Modavanti also donates 2% of every sale to one of three charitable partners: Charity Water, Nest and 19th Amendment. Charity Water brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations; Nest works with artisan communities in poor villages around the world to help alleviate poverty and empower women; and 19th Amendment is a startup that aims to keep talented young American designers producing sustainably in the US.
We hope you will join us in helping to move fashion forward by shopping at www.modavanti.com
