Ever since I was a little girl, purpose has been something I have paid attention to. I have always wanted to know that my actions and decisions were purposeful, however small, were purposeful.
Several years ago, I began learning of purpose driven shopping when I received a magazine necklace from my mother for Christmas. The beauty and creativity of that necklace astounded me – how intricately the person must have worked who made it; how detailed their work was; and how much they needed that work was impressed upon my heart. A couple of years later, when I began learning of human trafficking, through a simple jute tote, I started to realize that shopping and gift giving could be extremely purposeful. I knew that I could make a difference with the money I spent on gifts. I fell in love with purpose driven shopping and Delicate Fortress Creations was born.
It is my belief that a simple piece of jewelry, bag, or pajama pants can create tremendous change. I’ve seen it in my life, and over the past three years I’ve been able to see it in the lives of our customers too.
As people have purchased our products, not only have they enjoyed the beautiful quality with which they have been made, but they have appreciated how very personal each item is. They have been driven to tell the stories of the survivors who have created their items. They have been beckoned to do more to help stop the atrocities of human trafficking and extreme poverty. They have changed and they are creating even greater change around them.
