Human trafficking is one of the biggest social injustices of our time. 27 million people are enslaved around the world including labor trafficking, sex trafficking, debt bondage, and domestic servitude. More and more people are becoming aware of the factors leading to injustices and slavery such as poverty, little access to education, and disparity between economic classes. Men, women, teens, and even children want to have an impact on changing these injustices.
A simple step that consumers can take is to ensure that the products they purchase are ethically produced with the rights of the worker being upheld. Many consumers also want to make sure their purchases not only bring them pleasure but also benefits another person or organization. October – December is the biggest shopping quarter of the year. The last quarter of the year is prime time for retailers and non-profit organizations to reach compassionate consumers.
